Mike O'Hara put CINF sponsor signs in the exhibitor booths of those who support the division. The signs have the same design as the new bulletin cover.
Fundraising: Shall raise funds for technical programs and social events. Plan to create an endowment fund for young information professionals, students or those just starting in the area, for travel of about $500 or $600 per person to national meetings. Over the last two years, we have been successful in fundraising, due to personal contact.
Tomorrow: The Herman Skolnik Award Symposium honoring Gary Wiggins will be held all day tomorrow, followed by the Herman Skolnik Award reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The CINF luncheon begins at 12 noon on the third floor of the Wellesley Hotel. Guenter still has some tickets, and the speaker is Mary Bowden from CHF.
Awards: Stuart Kaback shall receive the 1999 Herman Skolnik Award.
Planning: At the annual long-range strategy planning meeting on Friday evening, we came up with goals and objectives for the division. Time limits will be set for the objectives. Six people will work out the final version which will be put to a vote to the Executive Committee in Anaheim. A member survey will be sent to the members at the beginning of next year or earlier along with a draft of the strategic plan. Shall work the responses into the goals and objectives.
National Chemical Information Symposium (NCIS): Steady decline in attendance. Did not lose any money. Next one is scheduled for the year 2000, if we find an organizer. Should hold it in the same place each time, probably the Northeast.
Web Page: Use it for anything you want to know about the division. Andrea does a great job of keeping it up.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 4:27 p.m.
Corrections to the minutes may be sent to Ann Bolek.
Respectfully submitted by,
Ann D. Bolek
