The ACS Division of Chemical Information Business Meeting was called to order by Chair Grace Baysinger at 4:06 p.m. The minutes of the 1998 business meeting were distributed. Bartow Culp moved to approve the minutes; Andy Berks seconded. The minutes were approved as written.

Election Results:

Awards: Stu Kaback is this year's Herman Skolnik Award recipient. Congratulations, Stu, who shall have a symposium all day tomorrow and a reception tomorrow evening. The 2000 Herman Skolnik Award recipients will be Steve Heller and Bill Milne. Timothy Allen Waugh received this year's Lucille Wert Student Scholarship Award. There will be more details in the CINF News about why he won the award.

Strategic Planning: Friday evening we worked on the division's strategic plan, a draft of which is on the table.

Electronic Newsletter: Shall enhance communications with an electronic newsletter, beginning this Fall. Bruce Slutsky has agreed to be the editor, and there is a handout on the table describing it.

Member Directory: Working on the print and electronic versions of the Member Directory. Collecting member data for you to be able to contact colleagues more easily. Shall collect the data first, then obtain permission on what data to provide.

Member Survey: Planning to have short, focused surveys: programming, salary survey, enhance membership information, more information about interests and skills. Will help us focus on how we spend our time and resources.

Bylaws: Working on revisions with Robert Stobaugh and incorporating comments from the Executive Committee. Shall send to the ACS Committee on Constitution and Bylaws, then to the membership for a vote.

Tomorrow: At the Division's luncheon, we shall have a speaker talk to us about the history and culture of New Orleans. Have a dozen tickets left.
