2003 Lucille M. Wert Award: Ms. Victoria Wei Zhang

The CINF Awards Committee is pleased to announce that Ms. Victoria Wei Zhang was presented with the 2003 Lucille M. Wert Scholarship during the Northeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society by Leah Solla, Chemistry Librarian from Cornell University. Dr. Mary Carroll, Chemistry Professor at Union College and Coordinator of the 2003 NERM Undergraduate Program assisted in the presentation. The Wert Scholarship award is made in honor of Lucille M. Wert who spent many years encouraging people to enter the chemical information profession. It consists of a $1000 stipend and a commemorative plaque. It is intended to encourage further study for students who have a chemically related undergraduate degree and are currently enrolled in a Master of Library/Information program.

Ms. Zhang is currently pursuing the MLIS degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Monitoring from Shanghai University. After graduation Wei hopes to be a science librarian or an information specialist working in the field of chemistry or environment science. She was highly recommended and has many years of experience in information research and management as well as project management. The division is very pleased to present this award to someone of Ms. Zhang's caliber.
