Call for Papers: ACS CINF Symposium on "Research results"

The Chemical Information Division of the ACS invites proposals for presentations at the symposium: “Research results: reproducibility, reporting, sharing and plagiarism” to be held at the ACS National Meeting in Denver, March 22-26, 2015.

More details about the National Meeting can be found here: http://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/meetings/spring-2015.html

Abstracts for consideration need to be submitted in the MAPS (maps.acs.org) system by 17th October 2014

The aim of the symposium is to discuss the reproducibility and use of research results in various fields of chemistry, looking to improve the way that data can be validated, for example through better reporting and sharing, and to consider the effects of the "publish or perish" paradigm in particular in terms of "salami slicing" and plagiarism, and in general to raise the awareness of potential benefits of changing some current research and publishing practices.

Topics include:

  • Reproducibility of published results
  • Restructuring scientific practice for sharing data
  • Data quality and consistency issues when building databases
  • Plagiarism, self-plagiarism and experience of using tools for detection
  • Sharing data and managing data systems
  • For questions about the symposium or your proposal please feel free to contact me directly

best regards,
Martin Hicks (symposium organizer)
