Call for submissions: Science-based policy development in the environment, food, health and transport sectors

The 246th Fall ACS National Meeting and Exposition will be taking place in Indianapolis from 8-12 September 2013.  As part of this event I am organising a symposium under the CINF banner:-

Title:“Science-based policy development in the environment, food, health and transport sectors”.

Summary: This one-day symposium will explore the interaction between science and policy development in the regulation of the environment, food, health and transport. It will take the form of a series of case studies illustrating the impact of science on policy development. The controversy surrounding the science behind the study of global warning and the resulting focus on the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by international agreement and by national and international regulation is an example of such an area where science and policy development are inextricably intertwined. The symposium will seek to identify other areas where science-based policy development is of increasing importance.

I would like to encourage you to submit a presentation for inclusion in this symposium.  The ACS meeting is a great way to reach both national and international scientific communities and profile some of the interesting work you are doing.

You can submit your abstracts here: http://abstracts.acs.org – the deadline for submitting these is 18th March.

Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to seeing you in Indianapolis in September

Best regards,
